Creative Weirdness

One of our best friends, Charlie Brown ( yes, that is his name)  sent us a book yesterday......Steal Like An Artist by Austin Kleon.  Pretty interesting stuff about unlocking your creativity.  It is a fun read, quick and informative.  If you are like Rick and me and sometimes suffer from the dreaded creative block, read this book.  I think it will probably be one of those books that I buy and pass out to friends.

It seems that the holidays is a difficult time for me to be creative, but then in January I get this rush of energy........not only to create, to paint, to write songs but also to share my creative energies.  This is the month that I do many of our gig bookings and plan our vacations and dream about anything else that I would like to do. I think the cold, grey days fuel me in some weird way.....and yes, honestly, hot sunny days drain me.  Just call me weird, strange and wonderful.  :)

The weekend is upon us, hope  you have plans for something fun, that you laugh at yourself and smile at a stranger.
goodnight, sweet dreams

  2. I read that book last year. I've used some of the tips but forgot the rest... I can't force creativity out when I'm too busy.

To be creative, I find that I need to either be totally rested with my eyes closed and visualize my creation in an unorganized shape or be in a dire straight. If I stop long enough to allow the creative part of me have it's say without interfering, usually ideas take shape.

    Enjoy your beach weekend.
