The Best

How do I start???? NEVER have I received so many birthday wishes, calls, notes, cards!!!!!!
If you could drown in love, then I have drowned today. I have cried tears of joy, laughed, and truly been humbled by all your wishes.

Birthdays were never a big deal at our house......I had one birthday party when I was growing up.
In junior high school, my girlfriends gave me a surprise party at my friend Kaye's house. It was wonderful. My mom always said, birthdays were just another day. But that is so not true.
Birthdays should be celebrated, it is the day you/we entered this world......and we have all touched someone's life, shared in happiness and sorrow, our day should be remembered. We should celebrate our birth, and the life we have lived.

Birthdays are our "get out of jail free" card.....our chance to say I love you, I am glad you were born, you mean so much to me, life is better because of you. There is some sadness today,
my dad always called me EARLY on my birthday morning( like five a.m.) Even though he died twenty years ago, I still miss those calls and his rendition of Happy Birthday.

Thank you, thank you, thank you all, this has been my best birthday ever. The love that has been shown through out this day, takes my breath away. There is no way, I can ever express how grateful I am to all of you........I have heard from friends near and far and made some new ones today, thanks to Bouncin'Barb and her incredibly sweet blog post.

Tonight I send blessings and a prayer of gratitude for love, because it has wrapped itself around me as sweetly as a baby's hug. My heart overflows.......not enough words........

  1. I somehow missed the previous post and I want to wish you a happy birthday too! I could sing my traditional version of HB..but somehow I don't think it would have the same impact in the written version! I'm glad you had such a fun day with a 3yr old, I've had many myself and there's nothing better. I hope you ate a big piece of cake and a huge scoop of icecream or whatever floats your boat...hey, it's all about you on this special day! I'll ask you what my Mom always asks me every birthday since I was born..."Do you feel any older?" and she always says.."You were born on a day just like today"..she makes me laugh!

  5. I'm SO glad you were surrounded by so much love on your birthday! It is YOUR special day and should always be celebrated. I can't believe that your mum didn't celebrate birthdays :( I love birthdays. It's the one day that I know that I will always feel special.

  6. Jilda, I'm so glad you had a special day but I didn't want to make you cry! I just do that to people it seems! haha. My family celebrated birthdays but quietly. My first party was given by my neighbors when I was 14 and I had another one at 40. I think birthdays should be celebrated and what you said is so true. It's saying I'm glad you were born! You are a very special person and there's a reason (still not sure why) but we have crossed paths here and seem to share many, many of the same thoughts on life. You are special! Thank you for blogging!

  9. Glad you enjoyed your birthday. I only had one birthday party too and that was on my 18th. we did celebrate birthdays but I was raised to believe parties should be for landmark birthdays rather than having one every year.

  10. I could ditto what you just wrote girl because I got special blogs written for me and so many comments that I am just overwhelmed. Before i had a blog family my birthdays were very quiet and sometimes overlooked. We are both very blessed.

  12. I completely agree with you Jilda. I love birthdays and I love planning birthday parties much to some of my family members dismay! But I don't care, I celebrate them anyway.
Happy Birthday to you today, all the best!
    Love Di ♥

  13. You deserve all the love that was poured out. Count yourself so very fortunate. May all your birthdays be as happy as this one was.
