Use Your Talents

"Use what talent you possess: the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except those that sang the best."  - Henry Van Dyke

I hear people say constantly, "I have no talent".........that is when I put my serious face on, with my authoritative voice and beg to differ with them.  Every one of us has talent.......each is different,
and in varying degrees......but we all have talent.

I think we have been sold a bill of goods, if our talent is not the best, or the most unique......then it isn't any good.  I love the parable about hiding your light under a bushel basket, our lights were meant to shine......let them shine.  We were meant to use our talents, use them.

Talents can be anything.......whistling, dancing, painting, cooking, story telling, writing, flower arrangements, photography, sports,
music, teaching, being a good friend, being a good listener, telling jokes, sewing, fishing.....the list is endless......use your talents.

  1. I used to be one who said that. I always focused on the artistic things I couldn't do and never thought much about what the word "talent" could mean. Your list is perfect and finding what our talents are is not just the key to being happier..it's fun! I also think how sad God must feel when he hears us say: "Gee, you never gave me anything good". When, in reality, we have everything good if we just look. Your talents show in your writing about your life and your love of helping others...not to mention your other artistic talents which are amazing! Have a good weekend Jilda!
